Rotarian Fellowship of Quilters and Fiber Artists
Issue Number Six

January,2008
Hi
Well, another year has slipped by and we
are well into the next one!! Must be my age, although I am still ‘young
with experience’! My best wishes for a wonderful 2008 to all our members.
We have had a busy little group here in
New Zealand. We have been making lap sized quilts for ROMAC (Rotary
Overseas Medical Aid for Children). ROMAC brings children with deformities
into New Zealand from around the Pacific Rim countries for surgery so that they
are able to lead more normal lives afterwards.
We have a great response
from our few members, and I am pleased to report that we have presented our
first quilt to a little eight-year old boy. He may have to come back for
more follow-up surgery later, but he was very happy with his lovely quilt which
was made and presented by the ladies in the Wellington area.
Some
of the other North Island ladies have made these beautiful quilts also for the
ROMAC children.
I hope you are all
enjoying the challenge set by Chairman Phyllis Giersch and have got your Star
squares well under way for the quilts to be made for the Rotary Convention.
Mine is on the way to USA, and I believe there are going to be enough to make
two quilts! What a great response from you all!
I am looking forward to
meeting up with some of you at the Convention in Los Angeles in June.
Until then, happy stitching everyone!
Regards,
Ailsa
